Some quick final thoughts on the Premier League season

Steve McMahon

Player of the season
Robin van Persie. Without him Arsenal would be mid-table. Put it another way, if Liverpool had him this season they would’ve qualified for the Champions League.

Manager of the season
Roberto Mancini if City win the title. Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has to be up there as well.

Best moment of the season
There have been so many fantastic moments. Manchester United’s 8-2 win over Arsenal stands out. However, I think City beating United 6-1 at Old Trafford is the one. In a way that’s probably cost United the title as they will most likely relinquish their crown on goal difference to City.

Biggest disappointment of the season
Blackburn Rovers. The way the owners have handled the situation was really disappointing. They were wrong to keep Steve Kean on as manager and they were wrong to let their two most experienced defenders go in the January transfer window with a relegation battle to fight.

Signing of the season
This is very hard to call. Papiss Demba Cisse I suppose. He cost Newcastle around £10million in the January transfer window and he has already scored 13 goals in 13 appearances.

Flop of the season
This has to be Andy Carroll. After a full season under his belt at Liverpool it still just isn’t working for him at Anfield. I know he’s started to play well recently but I really don’t know if he’s going to come good next season unless Liverpool change the personnel in the team.
