Puma is the Official Azkals Outfiter

2012.06.04 Azkals-Puma

Another Germany-Philippines partnership has been sealed as the German sports outfitter Puma, through its local and exclusive distributor Cougar Athletic Trends, Inc., and the Philippine Men's National Football Team signed a three-year deal for Puma to be the official outfitter of the Azkals last June 4 at the Discovery Suites, Ortigas, Pasig City.

Puma had recently signed up Azkals striker Ian Araneta of Philippine Air Force FC, as well as winger Misagh Bahadoran and defender Carlie de Murga of Global FC to be the local brand ambassadors for the sports brand. However, Puma pursued further and tapped the whole team to provide them the official Team Kit and equipments. In addition, they will be the official provider for replica kits, fan wear and other merchandises.

Thessa Santos, Cougar Athletic Trends, Incorporated's AVP Sales and Marketing, said that Puma will be making a kit for the team that is tailorfit for them.

It was also announced that Bahadoran would be the King Puma of the country. In return, Bahadoran expressed that he is very much honored with the recognition, citing that one of his idols, Pele, also wore Puma in his playing days.

Though Santos said that the fans should wait a little longer for the kit to be available for public consumption, as they are finalizing the final kit, which will be launched through a fashion show after having an open contest for the possible design of the jersey. "We want to be interactive with the consumers, we want their passion to be embeded in the jersey," she added. The contest details will be made available once things are ironed upon.

In the mean time, Puma is only sponsoring the senior squad. Santos said that they are doing a "slowly but surely" strategy since this is the first time Puma got a big squad in the country donning their sportswear.
