The Philippines battled for a scoreless draw against a Cambodia side who will still battle for it's place in the qualifying stages of the AFF Suzuki Cup.
With a reinforced squad that saw the return of the Younghusband brothers, custodian Neil Etheridge and midfielders Jerry Lucena and Paul Mulders, the Azkals were primed to defeat the Royal Khmer.
Chances come begging for the Filipinos as each wave of attack were easily swept by Cambodian goalkeeper Sou Yaty.
On the Cambodian side, chances also came in the first half but were easily thwarted by the heroics of the defensive tandem of Rob Gier and Jason Sabio.
Changes came before the second half that saw Jason de Jong replacing Gier and Patrick Reichelt replacing Lucena.
Reichelt's debut was one to savor as he quickly made a mark with a cross to the inside of the box, only to find no one despite having a one on one chance with the goalkeeper.
Another substitute in Denis Wolf also threatened the Cambodian goal with his shot well saved.
Reichelt had a chance to slot home the winner after he was found by Misagh Bahadoran then beating the defense only for his shot beat the goalkeeper but hit the outside of the post.
This is the first of three matches for the Azkals, they will face Singapore on Friday for a rematch before their final leg in Laos on Monday.
