The Philippines, through the official website of senior men's national team, released the list of players who will participate on the upcoming FIFA International friendly against Laos this Monday.
Loyola Meralco Sparks FC stalwarts James and Phil Younghusband were left off of the team, as they have already flown back to Manila due to family commitments.
The PHI-LAO friendly falls on the first-year anniversary of the passing of their mother, Susan Younghusband. She had been only 49 years of age when she succumbed to a massive heart attack.
The brothers have already spoken with and secured approval of team management regarding their unavailability for this friendly, but both have reassured the public of their full commitment to the national team and its preparations for the AFF Suzuki Cup later this year.
Philippines Head Coach Hans Michael Weiss has confirmed James and Phil's unavailability and expressed no problems with regards to their absence.
In addition to the two, midfielder Jerry Lucena has been omitted from the list, as Danish Superliga side Esbjerg has recalled his services.
All three have played integral roles in the previous two friendlies, a goalless draw against Cambodia and a 2-0 victory over Singapore.
