Kaya FC suceeded with its final mission to end their campaign as they defeated Penson Stallion FC last June 26 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
However Kaya were unable to clinch the league title after Global FC drew Loyola Meralco Sparks FC 1-1 to claim the title on equal points but with a superior goal difference.
A 43rd minute goal from Nate Burkey, courtesy of an assist from Joshua Beloya, gave the red-squad their much needed victory to remain in strong contention for the UFL title before the second game of yesterday's match started.
Yellow cards were issued to Stallion's Jake Hugo, Kaya's Anton del Rosario, Masa Omura and Beloya. Stallion skipper Ruben Doctora got two yellow cards in the 15th and 84th minutes of the match. The match was also noted to be physical as 37 fouls were called, 20 coming from Kaya and 17 from Stallion.
Kaya had 31 attempts in the entirety of the match, while Stallion only had nine. Meanwhile, Stallion Keeper Wilson Munoz had nine saves while Golden Glove receipient Saba Sadeghi Garmaroudi had three.
