Now that only sixteen teams remain in contention for the UFL Cup, the excitement has reached another level as the knockout stage is about to unfold in the first two knockout games slated today at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Philippine Air Force Phoenix FC v Manhur FC - 2:00PM
The first fixture of the knockout stage will feature reigning league champions and Group E winners Philippine Air Force Phoenix FC against Group G runner up Manhur FC.
The Airmen have enjoyed a dominating performance in the group stages after doing a sweep against Philippine Navy FC, Laos FC and Manila All-Japan FC scoring a total of 23 goals in the process. Again the triumvirate of Ian Araneta, who has scored 10 goals this term, skipper Yanti Barsales and Chieffy Caligdong will be leading the frontline in this fixture.
Meanwhile, Manhur FC will be relishing this chance against the Airmen after finishing second in Group G after the draw in their last match against Sunken Garden United FC, where they bounced back after being behind by two goals, denied them a higher spot in the seedings. To add, Manhur FC will be missing Gerald Orcullo who was sent off last Sunday.
Nomads Auction Manila FC v Pasargad FC - 4:00PM
This fixture will be a familiar sight for both clubs as they have already met in the Second Division last season.
Nomads have enjoyed the group stages as well, scoring 13 goals in the process giving them maximum points in Group A. In addition, Second Division's top scorer from last season Steven Borrill has already scored five goals plus goalkeeper Jeff Blake has yet to concede a goal.
Pasargad FC will surely relish this draw after their draw against Group F winners Green Archers United FC last weekend. Navid Khorsani scored the equalizer in the dying moments of the match to ensure their entry to the knockout stages.
Don't miss the chance to watch all four teams go all out today at the Rizal Memorial Stadium as every minute an action awaits in the UFL Cup.
