Key Games

Sunderland 2-1 Liverpool (HT: 1-0)

With Liverpool still searching for their first win of the Premier League season following one point from their opening three games, Steve McMahon believes the trip to Sunderland will prove to be equally frustrating for Reds supporters.

“I just think it’s the first [league] game for Sunderland at the Stadium of Light [this season] and they are strong at home.”

“Liverpool are just too expansive and are too open.”

Queens Park Rangers 2-1 Chelsea (HT: 1-0)

QPR have not enjoyed the best of starts to the new Premier League season and they were hammered 5-0 by Swansea in their first game. However, Steve McMahon thinks the motivation of a playing a London derby at home against Chelsea will allow them to jump-start their season on Saturday.

“QPR’s season has got to start someplace otherwise they will find themselves in a dogfight to avoid relegation.”

“I’ve played at Loftus Road, it’s a tough place [to get a result] and the atmosphere will be great because it’s a London derby.”
