Pinoy Footballers Abroad - (June 5-12)

Rob Gier in Bacolod with Gier-friends

This is a weekly post devoted to following up on all the overseas-based footballers who have played for the Philippines. Like what the title stated, this is a recap of games of a team that has a Filipino in the lineup. And again, for him to be included in the tracking process, either he has to have capped for the Philippines or been named to the lineup as a reserve, or has been locked to or agreed to play for us (as with the case of the likes of Kevin Ingreso). So, if you are looking for David Alaba, Jonathan De Guzman and Alphonse Areola, you will not find him here (and in the case of Areola, not yet, anyway).

If you feel that there is a name missing on the list that you would like me to monitor as well, or even correct me on some things, you may do so by sending me an email to john.paul.manahan@soccercentral.ph or by contacting me on my twitter handle (@misterjpmanahan) for questions. You can also tweet Soccer Central Philippines (@soccercentralph) You may also write them on the comments page below.

Again, do take note they have to qualify to the parameters set above. Major thanks to the people involved with and in Usapang Football for their assistance in detailing the info.

Now onto the players:

Neil Etheridge - Fulham (Barclays Premier League)

Fulham ended their season tied for eighth in the Premiership, ending it with a 2-0 defeat against Tottenham. Meanwhile, the Reserves finished 2nd in the Reserve League South.

Neil played the second half of their friendly against Indonesia, but played the entirety of their friendly against Guam. He is still in the country having a vacation.

Rob Dazo Gier - Ascot United (Hellenic League)

Ascot United finished the season in 14th place. Rob made 13 appearances for the club this season, starting all of them.

Rob played in both friendlies against Indonesia and Guam. He has already returned to England to be with his family.

Kevin Ingreso - Hambruger SV (1. Bundesliga) - Hamburger SV II (Regionalliga Nord) - Hambuger SV U19 (U-19 Bundesliga Nord/Nordost)

The first, second and U-19 team have already completed their seasons, with Kevin having appeared in all three at some point (although the first team appearances were with club friendlies and not official Bundesliga matches).

It is important to note that the 19-yr old has a 23-yr old elder brother, Ricky, who is in the Landesliga Hammonia with the third team.

Stephan Schröck - SpVgg Greuther Fürth (2. Bundesliga) (soon to be TSG 1899 Hoffenheim of 1. Bundesliga)

Stephan ended his career with the Kleeblatt as part of the 2011/12 2. Bundesliga championship-winning side. Next season, he joins Hoffenheim, who finished their Bundesliga season at 11th place.

Due to a family emergency, he had to fly back to Germany and miss the friendly against Indonesia.

Roland Müller - MSV Duisburg (2. Bundesliga) - MSV Duisburg II (NRW-Liga)

The first and second team has completed their respective seasons, with Roland having been involved in both teams.

Roland played the first half as the goalkeeper in their friendly against Indonesia.

Dennis Cagara - ??? (???)

Both Dennis and FSV Frankfurt have decided to not pick up the option for the upcoming season, thus rendering him clubless for the time being.

Dennis played in the friendlies against Indonesia and Guam.

Denis Wolf - ??? (???)

As recently reported, Denis has been let go by 1. FC Magdeburg, rendering him clubless for the time being.

He played in the friendlies against Indonesia and Malaysia. He still remains in the country, and in fact, did watch Guam play against Global FC.

Manny Ott - FC Ingolstadt II (Regionalliga Süd)

Ingolstadt II finished the season in 9th place.

Manny played in their friendly against Indonesia, but by getting himself sent off there, he was unable to play in Bacolod for the friendly against Guam. He is already back in Germany resuming his training.

Manny has a younger set of twins who are playing football as well in Germany. Mike and Marco. Mike is currently an U-17 selection with TSV 1860 München in the U-17 Bundesliga, while his twin Marco plays for S.C. E. Friesing in the U-17 Bayernliga.

Patrick Hinrichsen - SV Darmstadt 98 II (VL Gr.Süd)

SV Darmstadt ended the season in 5th place.

He is already on his way to the country and will arrive by June 15.

Oliver Pötschke - BFC Preussen Berlin (Berlin-liga)

Oliver played the entirety of their 2-0 defeat to 1. FC Wilmersdorf, ending their season in 18th place.

Mark Drinkuth - DJK Agon 08 Dü-dorf (Bezirksliga Gruppe 1)

Mark played the entirety of their 5-3 defeat against 1. FC Monheim, ending their season in 11th place.

Ray Anthony Jónsson - Grindavík (Úrvalsdeild)

Ray played the entirety of their 1-0 victory against Keflavík in cup competition, thus the reason why he was unavailable for the friendly against Indonesia and Guam. They face Breidablik on June 16.

Jerry Lucena - AGF (Danish Superliga)

AGF locked up 5th place in the league, which assured them of Europa League action for the upcoming season.

Jerry was a substitute in the friendly against Indonesia, but played the entirety of the match against Guam.

Paul Mulders - ADO Den Haag (Eredivisie)

ADO Den Haag finished the season in 15th place.

He played in the friendly against Indonesia, but he incurred a knock on his knee that held him out of the friendly against Guam.

Jason de Jong - ??? (???)

Jason was listed in the lineup to participate in the upcoming friendlies, although he was not fielded in during their match against Indonesia. He did, however, play against Guam.

It looks as though he has ironed out what might look like a deal to play for Stallion next season.

Jacques Van Bossche - Koninklijke Standaard Wetteren (Division II)

Jacques just signed a one-year deal with the team for next season. Meanwhile, he is deep in the midst of preparations for the AFC U-22 Qualifiers, being involved with the U-22 matches in the region.

Jeffrey Christiaens - Torhout 1992 KM (Division III Group A)

Jeff is set to join his fellow U-22 teammates in the preparation for the AFC Qualifiers after the set of friendlies with the senior national team, although he did play for Global FC in their club friendly against Guam on June 14.

It is important to note that he has not yet signed a deal with Torhout for next season, but he did tweet that he will be playing with Global FC next season.

Angelo Marasigan - K.A.A Gent (Belguim Pro League)

KAA Gent finished third in the regular season and beat Cercle Brugge 7-2 on aggregate to secure a spot in the Europa League in the playoffs. Meanwhile, Angelo is involved with the preparations for the AFC U-22 Qualifiers, although he is in the country and not with his teammates.

Chris and Simon Greatwich - Morris County Colonials (National Premier Soccer League)

The Morris County Colonials just secured their third win in a row with a 2-1 victory against Junior Lone Star FC. While Chris is focused on coaching duties alongside playing, Simon has resumed training after his sojourn in Manila, with the Loyola Meralco Sparks in the RHB Singapore Cup. The Colonials will face Buxmont Torch on June 13 and the Jersey City Eagles on June 17.

OJ Porteria - Falls Church HS (VA)

OJ scored the lone goal in their 5-1 friendly defeat against Cambodia's U-22 side. He is currently on the way back to the States to attend his upcoming HS graduation. He was an integral part in their HS soccer team, scoring 24 goals, including five in a single game. He also played for DC United's Academy side.

Leigh Gunn - Fraser Park FC (NSW Super League)

The Macarthur Rams blew out Leigh's club 5-1, putting them at mid-table. They are to face St. George on June 16.

Juan Luis Guirado - Racing Lermeño (Tercera Division Group 8)

Juani's season ended with scoring a total of 10 goals this season in all competitions (6 with Racing, 3 with Global FC and 1 in the AFC Challenge Cup for the Philippines).

He incurred a knock on his knee in the friendly against Malaysia, which made him sit out the friendly against Indonesia.
